We’re recruiting a Business Development Manager for an established transport and distribution business near Newark, offering a competitive basic salary, electric company car and an uncapped bonus scheme with significant earning potential.
This is a field-based, hybrid role in Newark focused on developing new customers across parcel and pallet distribution, with a strong emphasis on new business generation. You’ll have the freedom to manage your own diary, meet prospective clients and grow your own portfolio, supported by an established operation and recognised distribution networks.
THE ROLE
• Generate new business through a mix of cold prospecting, warm leads, referrals and networking.
• Spend the majority of your time meeting prospective customers and developing opportunities face to face.
• Build relationships with businesses requiring parcel and pallet distribution services.
• Identify customer requirements, prepare quotations and negotiate commercial agreements.
• Develop existing accounts while concentrating on winning new customers.
• Manage your own sales pipeline, appointments and commercial targets.
• Work closely with internal teams to ensure a smooth transition from sale to service.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Proven Business Development Manager experience in B2B sales, business development or a field-based sales role.
• Confident generating new business, including cold outreach and face-to-face meetings.
• A strong communicator with the ability to build relationships and close deals.
• Commercially minded, self-motivated and driven to achieve results.
• Organised, resilient and comfortable managing your own workload and diary.
• A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to customer sites.
Experience in parcels, pallets, courier services, freight, transport or logistics would be advantageous, but applicants with a successful track record in other B2B sales environments will also be considered.
