Park Keeper / Warden

Job Description

Immediate starts available for those seeking flexible work hours as a Warden / Groudsman across the Derbyshire County. You will work across a diverse range of countryside sites, including Country Parks, Multi-user Trails, and various green spaces throughout Derbyshire County
Key Responsibilities:
Site Patrols – Regular checks and oversight of countryside sites.
Safety Checks – Ensuring public areas, trails, and park facilities are safe and well-maintained.
Litter Picking & Waste Management – Litter collection and emptying of bins.
Public Interaction – Advising and assisting visitors, including mobility scooter hires.
Wildlife Care – Feeding waterfowl and monitoring for avian flu.
Car Park Management – Checking and maintaining car park machines.
Shop Support– Assisting staff with deliveries, stock replenishment, and customer service.
Maintenance Work – Undertaking fencing repairs, culvert maintenance, and general upkeep.
Volunteer Collaboration – Supporting and working with volunteers on various tasks.
Incident Response – Addressing public reports of anti-social behaviour, injured wildlife, and other concerns.
Site Closure – Responsible for end-of-day lock up and securing the sites.

Contract Type: Temporary
Hourly Rate: The wage for this role stands at £12.39 per hour PAYE, 28 days holiday pro rota. With a credited Umbrella Scheme you would earn £15.80 an hour. Please note we do not offer Visa Sponsorships.
Working Hours: This role consists of day work with flexible hours, with one weekend out 4 being a necessity

Experience & Qualifications

– Previous experience or relevant training in countryside management, grounds maintenance, or similar sectors.
– Practical skills and the ability to carry out manual tasks such as bin changing, path maintenance, and fencing repairs.
– Evidence of training or certifications in countryside management tools (e.g., strimmer, chipper, chainsaw) is highly desirable.
– A proactive attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
– Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and undertake practical, hands-on work.
– Flexibility to work weekends (1 in every 4).
